Tribute to a Master

4 photographs in tribute to Architect Geoffrey Bawa.

Lunuganga, a flooded landscape.
This is near the rice fields taken just after the dedduwa lake flooded-in after heavy monsoons.

walking thru the garden (or any building for that matter) is akin to walking thru the mind of it's creator. One finds areas which are absolute ragas of light and shade from dawn till dusk. Then again through the gaps of twisted trees and spiraled branches one sees spaces full of mystery, so dark and uncomprehensible to the ego.

The windmill on Cinnamon Hill
one of the areas in the Garden of Lunuganga which has a deep mystery for me. This part of the 25 acre land feels untouched and deeply quiet. One wonders whether the mill works, but it is beautifully placed.

The Post
The rains were heavy and the boundaries of what was man-made and nature lapped and merged. The only element showing the boundary is a post in the flooded field, where the geometry meets water.

House built for Lidia Ducini.
Upper Floor Living Room
This house is close to Lunuganga, One of the most beautiful works of architecture one might ever come across.
The site comprises of 3 seperate buildings with a long swimming pool in the trees where one end opens to the Galle Road with a blue+white paneled door.
